Body Partition Premium Store–Part 2

November 20th 2011 in a short story

Cassandra’s example really inspired me and made my intention whole.

“Can you do it to… ehm,..my hand?”
“Your hand?” Cassandra questioned me. And then she laughed out loud.
“Honey, my example was software. And your request is hardware.”
“Meaning?”
“It should be a lot simple, my dear.” And then she giggled.
“Just procedures, I have to ask questions. Do you mind?”
I shook my head.
“Why?”

I asked myself the same question. And I started to think about it. Maybe I should take the software thing. Maybe I should let Cassandra do the magic on my brain. But then I thought of myself. The desire that I have to stop may be just too strong for my brain to handle. What if that actually happens? It can be messy. So, I decided to go to the hardware instead–my hand. I really should stop myself from killing.

“I just need to stop my hand from doing things. That’s it.”
Cassandra’s smiling face turned serious.
“Is it that bad, dear?” She said that looking full empathy.
I nodded my head.
“Should there be any other questions to answer or shall we just we just get it on?”

There were some questions that Cassandra asked. They were about procedural matters such as family or friends she can contact in case bad things happen. She then measures my hands. Both of my hands although I just wish to be done on my left one. I am lefty.

She asked me further questions on my height, weight and age. She said it was for medication she needed to give me after the process. Before it was done, I asked her one question:
“Can it be undone? I mean, can I …you know…”get” my left hand back?”
“Temporary treatment is what you want, yes?”
I nodded.
“That can be arranged. But I must tell you that you will feel the pain like you have never felt before. Just imagine like growing your teeth…at the same time…and don’t forget to double the pain.”

I went quiet. I was so determined. No matter what, I just have got to do it tonight.

“OK. Just do it to me.”
“No, no dear, not tonight, no. I need you to take some medic…”
“Tonight!”

Cassandra went quiet. She observed my eyes.
“You need to be saved, yes?”
“HE,” I paused and then continued “needs to be saved…from me.”
Cassandra closed her eyes and nodded at almost the same time.

“Give me fifteen minutes. I’ll go get ready.

In that fifty minutes, her secretary came out from inside the house and handed me piles of paper. She needed me to sign. I didn’t bother reading it since my determination was a full moon.

She took me to enter this so-called operating room. It’s a small room with a big red comfortable couch and a strange looking device that has a monitor, a keyboard and a helmet that I believed would be place on my head.

Cassandra came in. She said a few word and that’s it. I went unconscious.

[…] Last night from Cassandra’s place was horrible. I felt like a newly born baby when it came to my left hand. It was lame. It was soft inside. And the bad thing was the fact that I was lefty! Cassandra’s assistant had to take me home. She opened the door, she drove me, she made me feel weak. I was weak. I had been feeling weak until this morning. […]

I came into the building. It was shabby. It was dingy. It was impure. It was north pole to south of its name–Body Partition Premium Store. Well, what choice do I have? The real premium kind of store costs me much more than this one.

So I literally dragged myself in. The bells chimed in–although I had […]
